ABSTRACT INFORMATION
'Chickens and Plants on Mars?!'

How to grow chickens and their food source on Mars in a semester! This presentation will take you on a journey of using Agriculture and Mars to teach students to think about how we grow plants and raise chickens on Earth. By the end of the sessions, participants will be able to take away lesson plans with hands on activities that can be used in a middle school classroom or adapted for any K-12 curriculum.

Biosketch: Sarah Moore is a high school science teacher at Uwharrie Ridge 6-12 in Asheboro, North Carolina. Her love of agriculture and science comes from her upbringing on dairy farm/greenhouse in a small town in New York before becoming a teacher. Her passion for connecting students to agriculture is seen throughout her lessons and projects. Adam (husband), Eric (son) and Sarah live on a small farm consisting of boar goats, chickens and one pig.
