ABSTRACT INFORMATION
'Growing Environmental Stewardship: How Agriculture Keeps Materials from Going to Waste'

Teach students how agriculturalists are environmental stewards in their daily work by preventing materials from going to waste. Presentation will discuss various materials diversion including food waste diversion to animals, donation or composting, reuse and recycling. Presentation will also discuss STEM applications and incorporation of free EPA tools.

Biosketch: Virginia Till applies her education and communication experience as recycling specialist and regional lead for EPA Region 8’s Sustainable Management of Food initiatives. She is passionate about keeping good food out of landfills and bridging the urban-rural interface to connect urban folks to better understanding of food and agriculture. Virginia’s current work emphasizes collaboration, K-12 schools, and audience-specific messaging for behavior change. In her spare time she studies fungi as an amateur mycologist.
