'What's Happening on the Farm' |

Come see and experience what is happening on the farm. Using an image of the farm as a starting point, participants will delve into the environmental and scientific issues taking place behind the scenes. Topics covered include best management practices, water quality, animal care and soil. Elementary teachers as well as volunteers will gain new tools to teach children about how farmers care for the environment. Participants will take part in selected activities from the unit that will reinforce the core science content pertaining to plant and animal life. Tammy Maxey Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom 804-290-1143 tammy.maxey@vafb.com Tammy Maxey serves as state contact and senior education program manager for Virginia Agriculture in the Classroom. Prior to her tenure with AITC she served as a teacher and administrator in a rural school division for 18 years. Tammy lives on a small beef cattle operation. She received a post masters from Virginia Commonwealth University in educational leadership, a masters from Virginia Tech in vocational technical education, and her undergraduate from Virginia Commonwealth University. |
