'STEM Careers in Sustainable Energy' |

Workshop participants will engage in hands-on activities from a new unit from the California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. This five-lesson unit unites STEM disciplines and agriculture literacy while meeting Common Core State Content Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. Students will learn about innovative agriculture professions that use STEM skills to create sustainable energy while promoting the development of STEM abilities and critical thinking skills. Lessons use careers in sustainable energy that focus on wind and solar energy, biomass, biogas, biofuel, and geothermal power as a basis for inquiry-based activities. Stephanie Etcheverria California Foundation for Agriculture in the Class 9165615625 Stephanie@LearnAboutAg.org Stephanie Etcheverria has been a program coordinator for California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom for six years. Stephanie works with teachers throughout California by exhibiting at conferences, presenting workshops, and sharing resources to pre-service teachers through university student teacher programs, to show educators how to incorporate materials about agriculture into their curriculum while meeting Common Core and Next Generation standards. She also coordinates the Imagine this… Story Writing Contest and has been the coordinator for San Francisco Farm Day and the California Agriculture in the Classroom Conference. |
