Michelle Schilling Liberty Elementary School - The Center for Agriscience Education 623-327-2818 ext 1116 mschilling@liberty.k12.az.us Liberty Elementary School has the oldest working school house in the Wild West! The district coined the school in 2013 as The Center for Agriscience Education. We will ignite the campfire and share the tale of our dusty ride in developing a ten thousand square foot garden, roping in community support and giving teachers the courage to saddle up by sharing our original garden engineering lessons. I have an unbridled passion for agricultural education. I am a former FFA member, served the association as a past Arizona State FFA Officer, earned my Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Education, taught high school agricultural education, served as an FFA advisor and was named Outstanding Teacher of The Year for my school and county. Then I jumped off my pony and took a science position within a general K-8 school district, earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and quickly became heartbroken. I lived in agricultural based community in which students in kindergarten believed their food and fiber came from Wal-Mart. My heart is repaired; I am back riding my pony and serving my community as the Agriscience Integration Coach for Liberty Elementary School – The Center for Agriscience Education. |
