'Going the Extra Degree Produces STEAM' |

This session will highlight samples of exemplary work that connects STEAM to all parts of the curriculum, using the backdrop of a school garden. Community collaboration will be highlighted and discussed. Each of the activities presented will provoke thinking and problem solving. Several inquiry-based lessons will be shared and linked to an educational standard. This session will raise one’s enthusiasm and show how a school garden will enhance the STEAM focus at any school. The many partnerships and resources that will be discussed will be applicable to any size school or district. Workshop Session (all workshops will be 75 minutes) | |

| Biosketch: | Jennifer grew up on a tobacco and beef farm in Middle Tennessee. She brings her experience to her first grade classroom. Her classroom comes alive with guest speakers, such as; the local high school FFA chapter, UT’s Extension Agency, USDA’s Soil and Water Conservation office, and her local Farm Bureau. Stories are brought to life with hands-on, agricultural literacy activities in her classroom. She has been Tennessee’s White-Reinhardt Winner and USDA Award applicant. Jennifer has a master’s degree in education, with a reading specialist endorsement. |
