Grab middle and high school students’ (or adults) attention with this lesson series to engage non-agriculture audiences such as consumers, community members, elementary students or government officials. Utilize active interest approaches to walk through effective conversation tips, accurate research methods and templates for student projects. Or, model these concepts to “train the trainer” by teaching high school youth leaders how to facilitate educational sessions for younger students. | Biosketch: | Amelia Miller serves as the Promotion and Education Specialist at Michigan Farm Bureau. As home to the Michigan Agriculture in the Classroom program, her role includes assisting county Farm Bureau volunteers with local program implementation. Growing up in the rural “thumb” of the mitten state, she developed a passion for agriculture while playing in the grain alongside her grandfather at the local elevator he managed. |

| Biosketch: | Lyndsay Grasman is Michigan Farm Bureau’s FARM Science Lab Educator. In its inaugural year, the Food, Agriculture and Resources in Motion (FARM) mobile classroom travels to schools across the state, where Lyndsay teaches agriculture based STEM lessons to all grade levels. Lyndsay manages scheduling, lesson planning and teacher communications for the FARM Science Lab. Prior to this position, Lyndsay taught middle and high school biology, chemistry and physics at Kensington Woods Middle and High School and Old Redford Schools. There, she mentored students as a varsity basketball and track coach, served as Science Olympiad coach and led the Mad Science program. Lyndsay holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Valley State University and obtained her teaching certificate at Western Michigan University. In her spare time, she enjoys assisting her family on their beef cow-calf farm. Lyndsay and her husband Josh reside in Howell, Michigan. |
