ABSTRACT INFORMATION
'Go Out On a Limb - Forestry Education'

Forestry is a key commodity in 13 southern states providing an economic impact in the billions. Arkansas Project Learning Tree has been providing forestry workshops for classroom teachers for over 25 years focusing on the environmental, ecological, and economic benefits of forestland and timber industries in the state. These 2-day workshops offer presentations, forest field trips, and guided mill tours to provide firsthand information and background that can be shared with students when teaching about trees, forest health, sustainable forestry, and forestry-related careers.

Biosketch: With over 25 years in the environmental field, Rob Beadel has been the Director of Forestry Education for the Arkansas Forestry Association Education Foundation since 2008. He serves as the Arkansas Project Learning Tree (PLT) State Coordinator and promotes sustainable forestry, natural resources conservation, and environmental education in the state and across the country. Rob has served on several environmental education boards and workgroups at both the state and national levels. These include the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Affiliate Steering Committee, National PLT's Education Operating Committee, and the Arkansas Environmental Education Association Board of Directors. In 2015, Rob was recognized by the Arkansas Wildlife Federation as Conservation Educator of the Year and is a Certified Interpretive Guide.
